Trail Town: Beech Mountain
5,506 feet up, Beech Mountain earns the title of Eastern America’s Highest Town. With that height, Beech Mountain is a year-round outdoor destination, enjoying cool temperatures in the summer, brilliant colors in the fall, a snowy wonderland all winter and lush bursts of wildflowers come spring. The Beech Mountain Resort and Brewery in town also provides seasonal fun with skiing, snowboarding and tubing in winter through early spring and scenic summit lift rides to the 5506’ Skybar, downhill mountain biking on Beech Mountain bike trails and disc golf in summer through early fall. In the winter, enjoy festive lights, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and the free public sledding hill. Whether you’re jamming out to live music all summer long, stopping by the Farmers Market, or leaf looking on Beech Mountain trails during fall, friends, family and even pets will enjoy local family-owned restaurants, the Bark Park, playgrounds, Buckeye Recreation Center, kayaking or just sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the views!

- This guide includes accessible, easy, moderate and difficult trails which may be suitable for, or exceed, anyone’s ability. Plan Ahead and Be Prepared.
- For this guide, trails which are marked as “accessible” are ADA compliant (firm, stable surface that is at least 36 inches wide). This includes paved greenways, hard pack pathways and boardwalks. It does not mean that these trails are without obstacles.
- Beyond ADA compliant trails, this guide lists many opportunities that are suitable for visitors of all abilities which include walking tours and driving trails. Additionally, check with local land managers for information on adaptive mountain bike access for mountain biking and road cycling trails.
- We encourage all visitors to utilize the provided trail websites and other local resources to become familiar with trail descriptions, site facilities and potential obstacles, so you know what to expect and can make the best determination for your skill and abilities.
